World Forestry Center Discovery Museum - Located in Portland's Washington Park, the Discovery Museum has hands-on, interactive exhibits that are fun for all ages. See the forest from a bird's-eye-view, take a wet-free raft ride, or climb underneath the forest to see the life below.

Oregon Zoo & Zoo Train - One of the top zoos in North America is located in Portland. Its state-of-the-art, naturalistic exhibits have won many national awards. Visit the Africa Rain Forest, home to monkeys, crocodiles, bats and other denizens of the West African tropics. See penguins on the re-created coastline of Peru, polar bears swimming under the Arctic ice, zebras roaming the savanna, and plants and animals native to the Northwest's mountains and coast. Don't forget to visit the most prolific herd of Asian elephants in any zoo—more than 25 babies have been born here! During the summer, board the vintage miniature zoo train for a ride through the temperate forest of Washington Park toor_zoo_elephants the International Rose Test and Japanese gardens. Outdoor concerts enliven evenings throughout the summer. Winter brings the magic of ZooLights, a holiday festival that runs through December. Visit the zoo for only $4 on the second Tuesday of each month.

Portland Art Museum (PAM) (Events) - VIDEO - Children under 17 receive free admission.  On Sundays, family tours highlight special exhibits and objects drawn from the museums 42,000-piece permanent collection. Tabor is enough to grab any kids attention.  We'll visit the cinder cone but it's the skyline and mountain views from the summit that will truly knock their socks off!  Portland is the only major city in the United States to have an extinct volcano.
