This bus is travelling down Burnside street, where, in a few blocks, you'll spy Civic Stadium (Also known as, Providence Park). It is located to the south. The stadium hosts, or has hosted, the minor league baseball team, the Portland Beavers, the women's major league soccer team, (The Thorns), and it hosted two women's World Cups in 1999 and 2003, and the MLS all-star game in 2014, with the Portland Timbers. The arena is most famous for being the oldest facility (1926) to be configured as a soccer-specific stadium for use by the MLS. Nowadays, apart from being a beautiful postcard from the past, it houses the men's major league soccer team (the Timbers).
Right after Civic Stadium, in an area known as the Pearl District, is.
Henry Wine hard's Brewery, to the north. It is in the historic Italianate style built, and operated here from 1864 until 1999, more than 130 years, and was known as the West's oldest continuously operated brewery.
Prohibition brought a disappointingly quiet end to the debauchery. But they survived. The bar sold soft drinks and “near beer”. By the time Prohibition was repealed, 17 years later, the brewery was a shadow of itself.
Inside, the original brew house, the malt storage building, and the Brewery smokestack (an image representative of a brewery), are iconic elements, clearly visible from the courtyard.
