Wintertime Touring
Take a breath. Feel the stillness. The trees, having released their brilliant leaves, are sleeping peacefully. The young vines, just harvested, are beginning their slow transformation in barrel. The promise of the vintage is now safely in the hands of the beverage makers. Welcome to Oregon country's coziest time of year.
The stunning scenery, and the glow of heaters and crackling fireplaces from winery, brewery or distillery porches in the misty air beckons us to embrace the joys of this special season.
You don't want to miss the outdoor winter scenery in the Gorge, mountains or the Oregon Coast!
The comfort of seasonal food pairings, enjoyed with a stunning backdrop of fir trees and rising fog. The chance to share the moment with the talented makers who can finally catch their breath, too, and embrace a moment of calm.
Winter & Off-Season Touring
The beautiful Oregon country is especially beautiful in Fall & Winter. If you thought visiting was only a fair-season pastime, think again! 'Ask me about the best time to visit Oregon country, and you may not get the same answer twice. It’s hard to choose: I love the coiled energy of spring, the flash and fun each fall, and lazy, hazy, long summer days. But I do reserve a special place in my affections for this time of year. Harvest is wrapping up and things are quieting down. The rain, snow and the sun are all frequent visitors to the hilltops and valleys, and the famous Oregon trees are busily painting themselves red and gold – one last glorious show before they shed their leaves and sleep through the winter. With rainy, snowy or bright sunny winter afternoons and not as many visitors, it’s an ideal time to enjoy the slower, quieter side of Oregon country.'

WE'LL FIND YOUR SPECIAL SIGHTS
This is the time to gather indoors or outdoors, visit your favorite locations, and enjoy the slowed pace of post-holiday Oregon country. Indoor activities such as wine country, breweries and distilleries tours are traditional. However, our outdoor adventures such as the Gorge, Oregon coast or Mt. Hood are just spectacular during our Oregon winters. Just bring your rain hat, coat and galoshes or winter boots. |
WE'LL FIND YOUR FIREPLACES
During Cellar Season in wine country, for example, we welcome cool air and gentle rains, and the glow of heaters and crackling fires glimmering through the fog. Whether it's on a spectacular covered porch or in an intimate tasting room, there's something about a special glass of wine fireside that epitomizes comfort. In wine country, this is the time to gather indoors, visit your favorite tasting rooms, experience a cellar tour or barrel tasting, and enjoy the slowed pace of post-holiday wine country. More happenings are added to the calendar January through March, so be sure to check-in often for something new each week.
